Our journey started in 1996 at a small store in Kerrisdale, True Carnivores. We offered what was at the time, a radical concept: fresh food for cats and dogs.

It was pretty simple back then, our dogs and cats are carnivores and they were meant to eat meat and bones just as their ancestors had. To those in the city however, this was a whole new way of feeding. Fast forward to the 2000s, and as people became more invested in healthy and ethical food options for themselves, the pet food world also starting rapidly expanding. There were more options, different concepts of fresh feeding, and rapidly evolving opinions regarding the ‘right’ way to feed your pet. Feeding a fresh diet began to seem overwhelming, almost as though you needed a degree in pet nutrition just to get it right.

True Carnivore’s sought to clear the air, dispel common myths surrounding fresh food for our pets, and make it easy to understand and adopt for all pets and pet parents. Through this journey, we realized the importance of getting back to the basics of fresh diets for our pets. Carnivore’s Kitchen was born out of a need to showcase a unique and expanded offering of the core components of fresh diets. We strive to simplify the world of raw and fresh pet food and focus on the key components of a healthy diet for our pets. 

As an extension of our original store True Carnivores, Carnivore’s Kitchen features seasonal ingredients from thoughtful sources that highlight our local producers and farmers. Just as we value quality nutrition for ourselves, we want to empower you to create a diet unique to your pet’s needs. Our mission at Carnivore’s Kitchen is to simplify and dispel misconceptions surrounding healthy, real food diets for our pets. We aim to make feeding your pet fresh food simple and approachable for anyone, and to make the experience just as easy and enjoyable as grocery shopping for your own family.
